Lakers Select 11 Players in the 2019 GMHL Draft…

London Lakers just completed their draft for the 2019-2020 season, and it was a huge success. Lakers selected 11 players in the leagues 12 round draft. Players selected today.

1st Round. Goalie 1998 Joseph “Doc” Murdaca. GM Jeff Zehr said “ Helluva good Jr goalie, and we are Excited to prepare him for Pro hockey. Doc needs to play and win now as the man “

2nd Round. Defence 1998 Brett Whitehead. Scout Dan Martel said “ Great first pass, Hit like a truck when there, doesn’t go out of way, plays with poise, good team leader “

2nd Round. Forward 1999 Cal Davis. Coach Bob Langdon said “ named Gojhl player of the year, 82 Pts in 47 games, 1st team All-Star, former OHL player, STUD “

3rd Round. Forward 2003 Aito Iguchi. Zehr says “ Internet Sensation, Japanese Prodigy, Patel Barber, USHL Draft pick, has many options, we told Aito and his Advisors that we are willing to offer the Development amd Protection that he will need at Jr level, and to be able to make a smooth transition into Jr hockey in North America, as noted we’ve had tremendous success with Asian and Japanese hockey players – Eisai Arai Japan 2017-2018 MVP…..”

3rd Round. Defence 2003 Wade Bolton. Martel says “ OHL Mississauga Draft pick, reminds us and plays like a young, lanky, skilled Chris Pronger. Will develop and gain Jr experience learning the right way to play Jr hockey to be successful”

4th Round. Forward 1998 Kyle Dawson. Coach Langdon says “ Captain of the London Nationals Jr B for a reason, Ham and Egger, good lacrosse player to , also at a elite level “

5th Round. Forward 1999 Marcel Berube. Coach Zehr says “ Size, Strength, Speed another OHL pick, has Jr Experience and a lot of it. Local player ready to Dominate in our lineup”

6th Round. Defence 1998 Austin Jeffers. Scout Martel says “ Another aggressive, tough D, right up coaches alley and bringing the nasty back to the Lakers “

6th Round. Forward Brock Trichilo. Coach Langdon says “ consistent 25-30 goals at Jr level, let’s see that number increase to next level, playing with higher caliber kids this year”

7th Round. Forward Chaseton Sare. Coach Zehr says “ this under the radar STUD has 2 – 50 Goal 100 Point seasons in JR! Plus he’s Tough as Nails, that’s what actually drew our attention to him last year, when we started recruiting him. Sare has the ability to make a lot of noise this year!”

10th Round. Goalie Ryuto Nakamoto. Coach Zehr says “ Big goalie, Pro potential mark my words! Another Japanese descent whom has crazy character and amazing work ethic, future looks bright! “

With some recruiting in Europe still on the plate, and a few more summer skates, and locking in a few more recruits , the excitement is certainly building towards a Amazing season! More to follow
