Last season, Bolton notched more than a point per game in the regular season, and upped his production in the playoffs with the Kingston Voyageurs, en route to being named the OJHL Fan Favourite Award.
“This young man came to us wanting to know if we could work with him toward his academic and athletic goals,” says head coach and general manager Jeff Zehr.
“Adding this tugbout is just what we need, he’s a very motivated scholar and player, and his leadership and positive attitude will be contagious in and out of the dressing room.”
Bolton has played three seasons in the OJHL. Last year in 55 regular season games, Bolton scored 26 goals and 55 points. In the playoffs, leading his Voyageurs to the OJHL final, Bolton scored 28 points in 24 postseason games.
“You don’t get to add a player of Cole’s skill everyday,” says Director of Player Personnel and Scouting Ian Kennedy. “Especially a player that comes to you and says, ‘I want to be a Laker.'”
“Early on we got outpowered by a few veteran teams in Halton and Kingsville. In the last week, we’ve done a lot to address those needs signing Chris Hrabec, and now Cole Bolton, and we’ll continue to add. We might be an expansion team, but we’re here to win, and win now.”
A 1994 born forward from Flinton, Ontario, Bolton also spent time with the Wellington Dukes early in his OJHL career, winning an OJHL title with the Dukes, and an EBJCHL title with the Picton Pirates. A product of the Quinte Red Devils Midget ‘AAA’ program, Bolton was an OHL draft pick of the Belleville Bulls.
Bolton will join the London Lakers immediately. The Lakers play a home and home with the Toronto Ice Jets this weekend.
