Chapman played two seasons in the GOJHL with the Strathroy Rockets, scoring 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points in 46 games last season.
“I have seen this kid fly, and I can’t wait to see him light the lamp, and help lead these young men towards our team goal, a GMHL championship,” said head coach and general manager Jeff Zehr of the signing.
Chapman, who studies at Western University, and hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is familiar with the GMHL, having played in the league with the Bradford Bulls in 2012-2013 scoring 51 points in 36 games.
“Dan has been a player on our radar for months, and speaking to him, we know what he’ll bring to our dressing room, and watching him in the GOJHL over the last two seasons, we know he’ll make an immediate impact on the ice as well,” says Director of Player Personnel and Scouting Ian Kennedy of the 1994 born forward.
Chapman joins a group of Junior experienced additions to the London Lakers roster over the past two weeks, which also includes Jordan Babb (St. Thomas Stars, GOJHL), Gavin McGaughey (Rama Aces, GMHL), Riley Vogels (Huntsville Otters, GBMOJCHL), Daniel Potter (Wellington Dukes, OJHL), Cole Bolton (Kingston Voyageurs, OJHL), Chris Hrabec (Blind River Beavers, NOJHL), and Jared Binguis (French River Rapids, NOJHL).
“We’re deeper, we’re more talented, and we’re ready to go to battle with the best team’s in this league. Now it’s up to our players to execute and fight toward our team goal,” says Kennedy.
Daniel Chapman will make his London Lakers debut Friday night against the Brantford Steelfighters when the Lakers drop the puck at London Sports Park for a 7:30pm game. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors/students available at the door.
