The London Lakers have made a variety of player moves during the Holiday break.

With 14 games remaining in their regular season, the Lakers are positioning themselves for a stretch drive, and the playoffs.

“Unfortunately we said goodbye to some wonderful people, and excellent hockey players, who have been with us from the start,” said Director of Player Personnel and Scouting Ian Kennedy. “We wish all our departed Lakers the best of luck with their new teams.”

The Lakers traded goaltender Chance Turner to Haliburton in exchange for 1994 born forward Ryan Salazar. Salazar is in his third season of Junior A, playing in the WUHL with Milton last season, and in the SIJHL with Dyrden the year prior. He had 24 points in 23 games with Haliburton at the time of his trade to London.

The London Lakers also welcomed back goaltender Dan Potter. Potter, a 6’5″ netminder, who was an OHL draft pick, finished last season putting up strong numbers with the OJHL’s Wellington Dukes. Potter had been away from the team since early November.

London also signed a pair of veteran players. Matt Simsons, a 1994 born skater joins the Lakers. Simsons has 3 seasons of GOJHL experience playing for the St. Thomas Stars, the team he competed with last season, and the London Nationals. As well, London added defenseman Tanner Gardipy. Gardipy is a 6’2″ defender from Saskatchewan who brings multiple seasons of Junior B experience with him.

London is in action this weekend against the Kingsville Kings and Toronto Predators.
