Ian Kennedy

Director of Player Personnel and Scouting

Ian Kennedy grew up in Wallaceburg, Ontario and currently outside Chatham, Ontario with his wife Stephanie.

As a youth, Ian played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ organization, before graduating to various levels of Junior hockey, playing 7 seasons in the Junior ranks, ending his career captaining the Woodstock Navy Vets. Following Junior, Ian continued playing with the Senior ‘AA’ Tavistock Royals.

Ian graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Kinesiology degree, before taking a Bachelor of Education Degree in Physical Education and Science.

Currently, Ian teaches physical education, including a Hockey Focus course at Chatham-Kent Secondary School, where he also serves as the school’s girls hockey head coach.

Ian has worked in Junior and Minor Hockey for the last decade. At the Minor Hockey level, Ian has served as a ‘AAA’ coach in the Chatham-Kent Cyclones and Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs organizations, and as an evaluator for the Alliance Hockey U17 team.

In the Junior ranks, Ian spent multiple years working as a coach within the OHL’s Program of Excellence U16 camps, and as a scout for various Junior A and B teams, most recently with the GOJHL’s Lambton Shores Predators.

Ian joined the London Lakers prior to their 2015-2016 inaugural season, and now overseas the teams recruitment and scouting, as well as many of the day to day hockey operations, and personnel management.
