Lakers Hand Kingsville Rare Loss

After suffering a tough home loss Friday night against the Niagara Whalers, the London Lakers bounced back to hand the Kingsville Kings only their second true loss of the season, and first home loss of the year Sunday.

London fought to a 5-4 win, with Dan Chapman scoring the game winning goal with only 14 seconds left on the clock. Chris Hrabec and Damian Caringi assisted on the marker as the team bounced back from the Kingsville Kings tying the score at 4-4 only 50 seconds before. Chapman also had two assists in the win.

The connection of Hrabec, Chapman, and Caringi were hot all night, as Hrabec also added a pair of goals in the game, while Caringi had a goal and three assists.

Also scoring for the Lakers was the team’s leading scorer, Kevin Hu.

Chris Armstrong was spectacular in net for the Lakers making 28 saves after replacing starter Dan Potter midway through the game, after he was ejected following a fight with Kingsville netminder Holden Melgoza, who travelled the length of the ice to challenge Potter.

London plays their final regular season game, hosting local rival the Komoka Dragons next Friday at 7:30pm. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for seniors and students, available at the door.
